Koshiro Gig - The Fleece (24-06-11)

Koshiro returned to The Fleece for a headline gig alongside two awesome Bristol bands, Gargantuant and Langur. Directly following our appearance at Decades in Weston Super-Mare we hit the stage back in Bristol, performing a show that will be up there with some of our favourites, mainly due to the overwhelming amount of support from the crowd and a wonderful positive attitude after storming sets from the support bands.

Langur performed a tight set that was both playful and accomplished, including much of recent record 'Long' and a cover of Gary Numan's 'Are Friends Electric?' They were clearly having fun back on stage at The Fleece, a venue they haven't played at since the release of previous offering 'Jokes I Don't Get'.

Gargantuant oozed charisma and eccentricity, drilling through their progressive and psychedelic metal with confident technique. It was a masterclass in how to keep an audience glued to the stage and the between song monologues were both intriguing and hilarious.

We started our set, probably still aching from the night before, at the fast pace we like to, but it was a set unlike any other we'd played. The atmosphere spurred us on and soon our pains were forgotten, as we tore through new track 'Telekinesis', our cover of Rise Against's 'Prayer of the Refugee' and the majority of our staple songs from recent sets. It's not that often that we get to do an encore, so we were pleased that the crowd urged us back on stage once we were done with our 45 minutes. It wasn't something we had planned for, so we brought out our cover of Rage Against The Machines 'Killing In The Name', something we hadn't played since our E.P launch at Christmas last year. There were a few teething problems but it went down a treat, with much of the audience screaming along the words with us. It was perhaps our best gig yet and the biggest thanks goes to the Koshiro regulars for making it such a fun show!

The set in full was

- Medicine
- Greater the Void
- Telekinesis
- Prayer of the Refugee
- Ghosts
- Last Chance Saloon
- Engage the Enemy
- Buried At Sea
- Killing In The Name

Koshiro Gig - Decades (23-06-11)

The first Koshiro gig out of our home town of Bristol was a Battle of the Bands heat at Decades in Weston Super-Mare, alongside classic rock five-piece Black Wolf and melodic death metal band Gelgothen. We didn't make it through to the next round of the competition but had a lot of fun performing on an awesome stage to a bunch of new people.

There wasn't as much support for our headline set as there was for the other bands, but that didn't knock us and we tore through a set made up of our strongest songs, putting as much energy as we could into it. There was some headbanging from the crowd and even a four-person circle pit, which was a pleasure to witness!

The set in full was

- Medicine
- Greater the Void
- Telekinesis
- Ghosts
- Last Chance Saloon
- Engage the Enemy
- Buried At Sea

Next up, a blog post on our headline gig back in Bristol at The Fleece, which happened on Friday 24th June, with support from Open To Offers, Langur and Gargantuant!
